Fight Rules
It will be obvious if you have or have not read the rules of fighting if your wolf ever gets into a fight. They’re pretty easy to follow, and even give you a little bit of guidance as how to fight better. We suggest you read them.
In General:
- In accordance with overall site rules, godmoding will NOT be tolerated. No matter how well your wolf is able to fight, the opponent will get in some hits. Imagine yourself as your wolf and see the other character and their attack as they describe it. Would it be physically possible for you to dodge that? Take injuries into consideration as well. If your character dodges or does a move that whoever is judging deems impossible, you will be told to alter your post and be careful. Failure to comply and to be wary of this will result in punishment.
- Also in accordance with overall site rules, no powerplaying. In regards to fighting, this means that you cannot say whether or not your attack hits the other wolf. You can say where the hit is intended, but that is it. Example:
WaterSinger launched herself towards the good-for-nothing brute that she fought against. She opened her jaws; fangs bared and felt a sense of glee as her teeth connected with Fathom’s throat. She buried them deep within the brute, and watched as his life slowly drained away. No, no! This is how something like this should be posted. WaterSinger launched herself towards the good-for-nothing brute that she fought against. She opened her jaws, fangs bared and she felt a sense of glee with the thought that her attack may hit home. If she were lucky, it would and her teeth would become deeply embedded in Fathom’s throat; slowly draining away the life inside. Much better! How would Fathom respond to this? Here’s a little example of a good response. Fathom saw the femme’s slender form leave the ground as she leapt for his tender throat. Her teeth were bared and Fathom felt a sharp stab of pain as he attempted to dodge the fatal attack by ducking his head quickly. Her razor fangs grazed the back of his neck and shoulder blades. He closed his eyes momentarily as the pain crept in and he felt a warmness creeping were WaterSinger’s attack had hit. Easy, yes?
- You may have TWO attacks per post.
- Everyone is allowed one free attack before a fight application actually has to be filled out.
- Each opponent will have a limit of 10 posts and then (unless it is a predetermined fight) the judging staff member will post the results of the fight. No arguing or sulking! Favoritism is not used, but rather the winner is chosen by skill, description, realism, and other factors. Most likely, the staff also briefly discussed it together and agreed.
Beginning the Fight & Application:
No matter the cause of the fight, be it training, a squabble, a war, or anything else, a fight application must be posted in the “Fighting Applications” board.
This needs to be filled out before the fight breaks out. All partaking fighters need to post in the thread holding their app and say they agree. Then, a staffer will accept and judge as the fight goes. If your fight outcome is prearranged, please say so. Essentially, this is the way your application should be outlined:
Names, Packs, and Ranks of Fighters: (Names of ALL fighters and their pack and rank in parenthesis.)
Where?: (This is where the fight will be taking place. Please name the lands and link to the thread.)
Reason for Fight: (State why the wolves are fighting.)
Type of Fight: (Name of the type of fight; types listed below.
Types of Fights:
Training-[/u] This is when an older wolf is teaching a younger one, usually a pup, how to fight. No one usually gets injured in this, and if they do, it’s only very minor.
Brawl- Generally a small fight in which no one is usually seriously hurt. There are cuts and bruises and such. No lasting injuries.
Serious/Battle:[/u] Worse than a brawl, participants may receive lasting injuries, but there are no deaths. Lasting injuries could be a muscle wound, scar, broken bone, etc. Things that most likely will affect the wolf it’s whole life.
Death Match-[/u] The most serious of all fights (save war) and at least one wolf dies. The death may be prearranged or you can leave it up to chance. No deciding to back out in the middle of the fight.
War-[/u] Between packs only. Some pack members may die, and there must be at least 3 members of each participating pack for it to qualify as a war. If there are less than that, it would be a battle or death match.
The Actual Fight:
A few tips to help you out in your fighting.
- Description is, by far, the most important thing in fighting. In what direction are you attacking from? Where is your attack headed? What are you doing in the attack? Description cannot be emphasized enough. It gives a clear image to everyone reading what is going on.
- Keep your moves lupine. Wolves cannot do barrel rolls in midair, or generally leap over another wolf (maybe if they were standing on a rock or something…) especially with injuries. No punching. Just remember you are a wolf.
